Pre-conference Meeting:

Planning an Introduction to Health Information Technology for State Legislators

Funded by the HITCh Partnership Foundation members

This program is a working meeting of the Project  HIT Champions steering committee and Foundation Partners.  The meeting will plan an introduction to HIT for legislators, consisting of brief written introductions to HIT topics, illustrative stories, and an organized presentation.

FAQs: What does a state legislator need to know to get started in HIT?

  • The group will discuss and finalize a list of "frequently asked questions" (FAQ)  that will serve as the framework for our introduction to HIT.
 9:00 – 10:00 am Presentation: Introduction to HIT

Moderator:  Joseph Flores, VA  (Co-Chair)

  • HIMSS introduction to HIT for Hill staff
               Presenter:  Lisa Gallagher, HIMSS,
    The presentation will be a starting point for discussing additional content for the NCSL HITCH introduction and alternative formats for a presentation.

Cases and Narratives

Moderator:  Representative Jerry Iekel, WY

  • Members and Partners will identify stories that can be told to illustrate the FAQs and other issues in HIT.  These case narratives will be developed for presentation-and possible recording--at the NCSL Annual Meeting in August.
