Ed Vukich
Ed Vukich is a policy analyst with the Washington State Department of
Social and Health Services, Division of Alcohol and Substance Abuse
(DASA). Ed functions as DASA's criminal justice policy expert and as the
data specialist for policy and legislative issues. He is currently charged
with developing methods for tracking substance abuse treatment and outcomes
under the Criminal Justice Treatment Account - a substantial source of state
funds for treating criminal justice clients that is directly tied to drug
offender sentencing reform. Prior to his employment with DASA, Ed was a
policy analyst and researcher with the Washington State Sentencing Guidelines
Commission. During his tenure, Ed conducted many of the Commission's
analyses of legislative and other policy proposals, which began his involvement
in drug offender sentencing reform in its earliest stages. Ed holds
undergraduate and graduate degrees from Washington State University, and he has
published on subjects such as jail and prison capacity, disproportionality and
disparity in sentencing and the relationship between drug quantity and
sentencing.
