Critical Health Areas Project (CHAP)
The Forum for State Health Policy Project at NCSL has begun a new program, Fostering State Leadership and Expertise on Critical Health Areas Project, or the Critical Health Areas Project (CHAP) for short. The CHAP initiative is designed to strengthen the ability of state health policymakers, particularly state legislators, to address a number of critical and emerging health problems (chronic care and quality, healthcare access, addiction prevention and treatment, and providers and workforce). This will be carried out through two broad strategies: improving the awareness and knowledge of certain critical health policy concerns among current health policy leaders within the legislatures and helping to develop a cadre of future health care leaders in order to ensure continuity of leadership and expertise in the states.
CHAP is the sister project of the The Health Chairs. Funding for CHAP comes from a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
