2007 State Proposals (2007 Filed Bills, please click here) 

Proposals and bills to address comprehensive health reform to cover all or most of the uninsured are a high priority for Governors and legislatures this year.  Below you will find a list of states that propose universal or near universal coverage.  The links are either to a formal proposal or information that may lead to a proposal or bill.

Iowa	Iowa Governor's Plan Senate File 128, raised the tobacco tax to create a health care trust fund.
Kansas	The Governor tasked the Kansas Health Policy Authority with developing a plan to ensure all residents have access to health insurance. Executive Order to Create the Kansas Health Information Exchange Commission.
Louisiana	Louisiana Health Care Redesign
Maine	Maine Governor Baldacci Unveils Plan to Expand Health Coverage
Maryland	The Governor is establishing the Task Force on Health Care Access and Reimbursement to recomments health care reforms.
Minnesota	The Health Care Transformation Task Force is developing a statewide plan to improve the health care system and reduce cost.
New Jersey	The Commission on Rationalizing Health Care Resources is studying the status of the health system.
New Mexico	The Health Coverage for New Mexicans Commitee task force
New York	New York Governor's plan Medicaid Matters New York Greater New York Hospital Association (GNYHA)
Pennsylvania	Pennsylvania Governor's Rendells Rx for Pennsyvania Presentation.
South Dakota	Created by the legislature, Zaniya is a task force to recommend health care solutions.
Virginia	The Governor convened the Health Reform Commission will presents in finall report in the fall of 2007.

Wisconsin	Governor Doyle created the Healthy Wisconsin Council in July 2006 to develop policy options to significantly reduce the uninsured in the state.
Wyoming	The Wyoming Health Care Commission is currently considering options for expanding services to the uninsured.
