Overview: Strategic planning in Utah is centered in the Governor's Office of Planning and Budget. The "Utah Tomorrow Strategic Planning Committee," which includes legislators, executive and judicial branch personnel and members of the public, advises on state strategic planning. The legislature has required performance budgets from a limited number of agencies or programs. For the 2001 legislative session these will include the Division of Wildlife Resources.

Performance Measures: Statutes set performance reporting requirements for certain state agencies, but there is no requirement for agency performance reporting across the board.

Performance Reports

The Division of Child and Family Services has posted its "Outcome Measures Report" for 1998, which includes performance goals and workload and output measures as well as outcome measures. The report discusses the significance of the measures.

The Department of Human Services has posted "DHS Outcomes" for 1998. The 1999 version is available from the department. The 1998 document provides comparable data from several years previous along with a discussion of the meaning of the data.:
