Fiscal Affairs ProgramGoverning for ResultsNew HampshireLinks active October 3, 2000 Overview: Currently, a small number of agencies are using a performance budget process in addition to the regular budget process as a pilot project. The legislative post audit division is undertaking performance audits of these agencies, and will release reports in early to mid 2001. Studies: The 1997 study from the New Hampshire Center for Public Policy Studies Toward a Better and More Comprehensible State Budget Process made proposals for state budget reform. The study called for experimentation with a performance budget for a small number of agencies. Statutory Requirements: H.B. 1456 of the 1998 session (New Hampshire Laws, Chapter 222, Laws of 1998) set out requirements for performance budgeted agencies and performance audits.
