Fiscal Affairs ProgramGoverning for ResultsMontanaOverview: The 1999 General Appropriations Act required each department, the Montana University system, and when appropriate, each division of each department, to place its specific and measurable goals, benchmarks, and objectives for each year of the 2001 biennium on their respective internet web sites or the state's internet web site. Beginning July 1, 1999, and each six months thereafter, each department and the university system was instructed to report progress at meeting the goals, benchmarks, and objectives, and what changes, if any, were made to ensure that those goals, benchmarks, and objectives were attained. The legislature, perhaps uniquely among the legislatures, has published a mission statement, goals and objectives for itself in keeping with its requirement for state agencies. http://leg.state.mt.us/LBMGO01.pdf Statutory RequirementsSection 8 of HB 2 of the 1999 Legislative Session: http://161.7.127.14/bills/billhtml/HB0002.PDF Agencies/Programs
