Environmental Health Project
NCSL, along with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention National Center for Environmental Health, has initiated the Environmental Health Project to focus on and address environmental health issues facing the states and state legislatures. These issues, which include asthma, lead poisoning, border health, air quality, and a variety of other environmental health concerns, continue to stress state resources and budgets as state health officers struggle to meet these challenges.
This project assists state legislatures in their efforts to tackle environmental health concerns by staying informed on the latest developments in environmental health, studying state legislation and programs and offering insight into federal environmental health policies. It also tracks state legislation and health budgets, as well as identifies federal grants to states to support environmental health programs.
