Persons with mental illness present a unique set of challenges for the workforce development system.  This web-assisted audioconference focused on key policy issues that affect employment outcomes for people with mental illness who face economic and employment barriers.  These barriers can be personal, systemic or societal. 

The presenters, noted professionals in the area of policy, employment and mental health, discussed the following:
  • Current federal and state policy initiatives
  • The state of the science and evidence about employment policies that positively affect outcomes for people with mental illness
  • Examples of state system change projects 
  • State initiatives regarding funding, performance measurement and quality assurance/outcomes management.
