Relates to certain suits and claims by members of the military services; relates to certain suits and claims regarding acts or omissions of the organized militia; relates to workers' compensation and death benefits for members of the organized militia; relates to liability arising out of certain search and rescue, civil defense, fire management, and fire fighting activities.

Exempts from state individual income tax death benefits received as a result of the death of a member of the United States armed forces which occurred in or as a result of a terroristic or military action.

Provides that family members or dependent children covered under any group life and health and accident insurance policy or plan who are called to active service in the uniformed services shall continue to be covered under the provisions of the policy or plan provided that required contributions under the policy or plan are made.

Ensures that police officers and firefighters in the employ of the state and local governments, and active members of the Police and Firemen's Retirement System (PFRS), who are called to active duty or active duty for training in the military service and are killed or injured remain entitled to death and disability benefits provided by the PFRS.

Establishes $3,000 survivor’s benefit payable upon the death of any member of organized militia while in the course of performing active duty in the military service of the state.

 Pennsylvania  

S.B. 625
Provides for the cancellation of life insurance to a member of the National Guard called to active duty.
