The 2005 NCSL Annual Meeting was held August 16-20 in Seattle, Washington.  More than 7,000 participants engaged in discussions on some of the most important issues facing states and legislatures.  Below are links to disability-related sessions:

 

  • Reducing Dependency on Public Resources: Helping People Move to Employment
    This session examined how states can create partnerships among the workforce system, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families system, disability organizations and other groups to provide the resources and supports necessary to assist individuals with complex needs to obtain employment.

  • Testing and Assesing Youth with Disabilities: Challenges and Issues for States
    Testing and assesing youth with disabilities presents many challenges for states partly due to requirements under No Child Left Behind and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.  This session presented an overview of testing requirements and assessments and other related issues.
