This site is designed to help legislators, legislative staff, and other researchers obtain information concerning the funding of K-12 education in the 50 states. Click on the link below to reach the search engine page - you find a help menu if you have questions on the operation of the website.

The education finance subject areas that we have addressed in this website are:

1. Local Taxing Methods, including; Property Tax, Assessment Rate, Local Sales Tax, and other sources of local revenue.
2. Tax/Spending Limits, including; Tax and spending caps, tax and spending referenda, legislative body approval, and no or other tax and spending limits.
3. Tax Credits/Exemptions, including; General tax credits and exemptions, homestead credits and exemptions, and other types of tax credits and exemptions.
4. Earmarked State Revenue, including; Earmarked lottery revenue, earmarked general revenue, earmarked surtax revenue, educational endowments, and educational trust funds.
5. Foundation program information, including; Foundation levels, foundation units, foundation programs descriptions, foundation weights and adjustments, save harmless provisions.
6. Foundation and Categorical additional programs, including funding for; Transportation, special education, compensatory education, gifted and talented education, bilingual education, technology, teacher retirement and benefits, and other miscellaneous programs.
