LEGISLATIVE EDUCATION STAFF NETWORK

Goals for 2005

The Legislative Education Staff Network Steering Committee members established the following goals for 2004-2005.

   I.
Create an LESN Spotlight news bulletin for dissemination on the listserv.

a. Two steering committee members in charge for each quarter
b. Replaces the Newsletter and addresses funding issue

II.
Conduct a survey of membership.

a. Use data for marketing LESN to funding sources
b. Use data for promoting LESN to membership

III.
Develop a relationship with a key staff person in the host state of each LESN meeting.

  IV.
Develop a contact staffer in each state who can serve as an LESN ambassador to new staff in their state.

   V.
Increase the utility of the listserv by encouraging everyone to participate.

  VI.
Issue welcome letter from Steering Committee to new staff members.

VII.
Make the sessions at meetings less about business and more useful.

VIII.
Use technology to address attendance issues.

a. E-mail Power Point presentations so teleconferencing members can follow along
b. Webcast
c. Conference Calls

   IX.
Designate a chief staff person in each state who has the password for the ECS digital clearinghouse.

    X. Discuss digital privacy concerns for listserv conversations.
