2004 LESN Recognition Award
The Legislative Education Staff Network (LESN) recognizes Julie Pelegrin for excellence in service to the Colorado Legislature and to the Legislative Education Staff Network. LESN is honored to present Julie with the 2004 LESN Recognition Award.
 Julie Pelegrin has served the Colorado General Assembly for 13 years as Staff Attorney at the Office of Legislative Legal Services. As Team Leader of the Law and Education Team, she specializes in drafting legislation in the areas of education, education finance, higher education, criminal law andjuvenile justice.
Julie is very active in both NCSL and the Education Commission of the States and has been devoted to professional development for legislative education staff for a number of years. She effectively worked with NCSL and ECS staff serving as Chair of the LESN Steering Committee in 2000-2001 and as Immediate Past Chair for the two following years. In this capacity, she regularly led roundtable discussions and participated as a panelist at NCSL, ECS and LESN meetings. She has contributed articles to the LESN newsletter and often provides the Colorado perspective for legislative education staff listserv discussions. Julie is a 2001 graduate of the Legislative Staff Management Institute.
Julie's expertise is well-known across the country and at the Colorado Capitol. Senator Norma Anderson, Co-Majority Leader of the Colorado Senate, states it best:
