Youth in the News, 2006


We are pleased to present a collection of national youth news articles for our constituents. We gain a broad perspective on youth issues when we read these articles, and thought that perspective may be valuable to others. Please share with us your thoughts and suggestions on how this column can best serve your interests. The articles included in this feature are retrieved through our news service and may not be comprehensive. We briefly summarize these news items and include links to the actual articles. We do not independently verify the information contained in them.  If we include something that is not correct, please bring it to our attention and we will publish a correction.

Volume 1, Number 5 --  Read about the effects of alcohol and drug use on the adolescent brain and which youth are at a greater risk for HIV infection.

Volume 1, Number 4 --  This volume includes articles on providing youth financial education and using technology to combat youth violence.

Volume 1, Number 2 --  This volume includes articles on innovative ways to engage youth in the voting process and how some states are addressing the unique needs of gay and lesbian youth.

Volume 1, Number 1 -- Articles cover some issue areas like bullying prevention, youth gang violence and services provided to former foster youth.
