NCSL Executive Committee Task Force on Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness
The Task Force shares information on the relevant informational, financial and physical
resources of state and local governments and the federal government in an effort to
maximize the contributions that each level of government can provide to improve homeland
security. In addition, the Task Force assists legislatures in sharing expertise and
advice on issues of public safety, homeland security, emergency preparedness and public
health in order to protect our democratic institutions and way of life. (July 9, 2007)
Recent Enactments
States continue to debate new crimes and penalties related to acts of terrorism since September 11. Legislative debate has centered on money laundering for terrorism, cyberterrorism, agri-terrorism. And lending support for
terrorist organizations. (January 3, 2005)

Many states have created new crimes and penalties related to acts of terrorism since September 11. New state laws also address terrorist hoaxes, threats and anti-terrorism information. (November 2002)
