2001 Mortgage Fraud Legislation

 Indiana

H.B. 1144
Establishes the mortgage fraud unit within the office of the attorney general. Requires the unit to: (1) investigate allegations of fraud in connection with mortgage lending; (2) institute appropriate civil actions to remedy results of fraud in connection with mortgage lending; and (3) cooperate with appropriate federal and state agencies in the prosecution of criminal violations involving fraud in connection with mortgage lending.

Creates the crimes of mortgage fraud in the first and second degree; defines a fraudulent mortgage act.

 

S.B. 5598
Relates to unauthorized entities, unregistered mortgage brokers and mortgage fraud; establishes additional penalties against unlicensed or unregistered persons or entities engaging in activities after receiving a cease and desist order; further establishes the crime of mortgage fraud in the first and second degree. 

 Oregon

H.B. 2703
Allows the Department of Transportation to revoke, suspend or place on probation a vehicle dealer that knowingly engages in, or assists or encourages purchaser to engage in, certain activities to mislead, deceive or defraud lender in connection with sale of a manufactured dwelling.
