Though much has been discussed about Avian Flu and its effects on the human population, less has been discussed on the devastating impacts the disease could have the poultry industry and agriculture in general. This audioconference invites speakers from USDA to talk about federal responses to the flu, approaches the state of New York has taken to protect its producers from an avian flu outbreak, efforts underway by the private sector to protect flocks, and efforts state legislators can take to reduce the impact.
Speakers:
Dr. John Clifford, Chief Veterinarian, US Department of Agriculture
Dr. John Huntley, State Veterinarian, New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets
Richard Lobb, National Chicken Council
Jeff Kropf, State Representative, Oregon
