Mobile Meeting

NCSL App

At this year’s NCSL Legislative Summit, we’re offering a mobile app that will help you navigate the meeting with ease, take advantage of all its features, and enjoy the great cultural resources of Chicago during your visit. The app includes the entire agenda, automatic updates, alerts, maps, personalized agenda and note-taking features.

Download the App

There are two ways to download the app to your mobile device. For iPhone, iPad and Android devices, go to the App Store or market. Search for NCSL 2012, and then install the app. For Blackberrys and other devices, from your device go to www.ncsl.org/summitapp. The site will automatically detect the device you are using and download the app. The www.ncsl.org/summitapp site also works with iPhones, iPads and Android devices.
For help in using this app, please call 800-525-9745 or email support@tripbuilder.com, the people who have developed it for us.  See a chart of compatible devices.

Features and Tips

Here are some ideas to get the most out of the app and the meeting.

  • Alerts. The app will let you know about changes in the schedule, upcoming important sessions and other valuable information during the course of the meeting.
  • MyShow. This feature allows you to customize the app to create a personalized list of sessions, exhibitors, restaurants and other attractions in Chicago. You also can create a collection of your notes from sessions. The sessions you save in MyShow will be automatically added to the calendar on your iPhone, iPad or Android device if you enable that function under Settings. For users of Android and Apple devices, in MySchedule the time zone for each session added to your device calendar needs to be set to Chicago’s Central Time so that the correct time is maintained when you travel to Chicago.
  • Schedule. You can review every session, speaker, sponsor and exhibitor on your device.
  • Search. There are two search functions on the app that will save you time trying to find almost anything at the meeting. The first is a global search on the iPhone, iPad and Android devices—tap the magnifying glass in the lower right corner—that will search for any term on the app. The second is a filter function on the session schedule that allows you to create a listing based on Groups (Health Committee, Leadership Staff Section, etc.) and Topics (Budget and Tax, Education, etc.).
  • Surveys. You can rate each session, speaker, event or service at the Summit by opening the event in the app and selecting the Survey icon.

Tips continue

  • Chicago. The app includes an extensive list of restaurants and attractions in Chicago with contact information. You also can check the weather each morning.
  • Login. When you first use the app after installing it on your phone or tablet, you will be asked to enter an email and any password of your choice. So long as you don’t log out of the app, you will not have to enter the information again. The login allows you to share your MyShow information between two mobile devices or between the mobile app and  mobile web site (www.tripbuilder.mobi/ncsl2012).
  • Landscape. The app appears in portrait mode on all devices unless you are using the mobile web app. That will appear in portrait and landscape mode, helpful if you plan to use a keyboard on your device to take notes.
  • Synching. To share MyShow information between your devices, first synch the source device, then start the other device and synch it to receive all updates.  For help:
