Press Credentials

NCSL's entire meeting is free and open to credentialed reporters. Please review NCSL's Media Policy to see if you can register as media for the Summit.

Please bring your issued media credentials with you in order to pick up your NCSL meeting credentials. Media credentials will not be issued outside of the convention center. All attendees, including registered media, must wear badges at all times during the conference, including social events.

You will be able to work from our press room, w474A, at the McCormick Place Convention Center West. We provide computers, wifi, coffee and more.

 

 

Media Information

Reporters and news organizations won't want to miss a moment of the National Conference of State Legislatures' Legislative Summit. Members of the media must register onsite. Online registration is closed. 

The press room hours are as follows:

  • Monday, August 6, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Tuesday, August 7, 7 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Wednesday, August 8, 7 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Thursday, August 9, 7 a.m.-3 p.m.

NCSL has designated special hours for journalists to record video, conduct interviews and take photos inside NCSL’s exhibit hall. The times are as follows:

  • Tuesday, August 7, 2-4 p.m.
  • Wednesday, August 8, 12-3 p.m.
  • Thursday, August 9, 9-11 a.m.

Members of the media are welcome to tour and walk around the exhibit hall ouside of these hours.
Media may only take video and pictures for the first hour during each social event. Only events listed in the NCSL program are affiliated with the Legislative Summit.

The meeting

The 2012 Legislative Summit is four days of over 100 policy sessions on the most pressing issues facing state legislatures. Some of the topics include budget conditions, health care implementation, the 2012 election and education innovation in the states. The Summit provides the perfect opportunity for policymakers to exchange ideas on the most pressing issues facing states today. And it gives reporters story ideas, new contacts and insights into how issues in their states compare nationally.
