NCSL Bipartisan Bike Ride 2014

Join us as we cruise the streets and trails of Minneapolis for the 10th annual NCSL Bipartisan Bike Ride, Friday, Aug. 22, from 6:15-8 a.m. The ride is a great way to start the conference day and see the sights of the city at a leisurely 10 miles an hour.

The starting location for the ride is Convention Center Park Plaza, directly across Grant Street from the Convention Center (140 East Grant St.).

Bikes, helmets, water and riding tips will be provided by BikeTexas. Dress comfortably. All skill levels and ages are welcome to join this guided ride. Coffee and healthy breakfast snacks will be provided.

Online registration is closed. Email Douglas Shinkle with questions about the ride.

The 10th annual Bipartisan Bike Ride is generously sponsored by Walmart, American Society of Civil Engineers, BNSF Railway, General Mills, Primal Wear, People for Bikes, Siemens and Quality Bicycle Products.

The ride is a joint collaboration between NCSL, BikeTexas and the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota.

9th Annual Walk for Wellness

Join your colleagues on Thursday, August 21 for the Walk for Wellness, a 5K run or walk through one of Minneapolis’ most beautiful green spaces. Meet at Loring Park at 6:30 a.m. Enter the park on 14th Street by crossing Willow, and head to the park shelter building. Loring Park is walking distance from conference hotels, and transportation is not provided.

The walk is dedicated to raising awareness of the devastating effects heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis and obesity have on our nation as a whole, while drawing special attention to the health disparities that exist in minority and underserved communities.

The Walk is sponsored by:

  • National Asian Pacific Americans Caucus of State Legislators
  • National Black Caucus of State Legislators
  • National Caucus of Native American State Legislators
  • National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators
  • Women’s Legislative Network of NCSL
  • Legislative Staff Coordinating Committee and the NCSL Health Committee

Pre-registration is not required, but please email Katie Ziegler or call her at 303-364-7700 with any questions.

The nation's largest gathering of legislators and legislative staff for 40 years.
