Women in State Legislatures: 2013 Legislative Session

Approximately 1,784 women serve in the 50 state legislatures in the 2013 legislative session. Women make up 24.2 percent of all state legislators nationwide.

Judging from these preliminary results, the ratio of female state legislators has increased only slightly from the 2012 session's ratio of 23.7 percent.
