Citizen Engagement: Upcoming Activities and Events
Upcoming Activities and Events and Hot Topics
Over the next couple of months, I am planning to observe legislator practices in Colorado and Massachusetts. I have talked with Colorado Rep. Ellen Roberts about a bi-partisan discussion in her district on “teacher reform” laws and with Massachusetts Rep. Jay Kaufman about his public TV series with constituents on various hot topics. I plan to observe these practices, write up short descriptions for the listserv and create website entries and publications. I am also working with David Holwerk on the Kettering July meeting to invite a core group of interested legislators and senior staff to participate. Finally, I am planning a session on the legislator/citizen connection at NCSL’s annual meeting in August which I will create discussion tables and provide a couple of models of good legislative practices.
