Being a legislator is not an easy job. You must cope with an ever-increasing number of complex issues. You face scrutiny from the news media and public. The expanding demands place a higher premium on finding ways to do your job more effectively. As a result, good legislators never stop learning.
NCSL is here to help by offering a variety of ways for you to get information and training, such as:

Meetings—for example, the NCSL Legislative Summit, Fall Forum and other specialized meetings

Publications—for example, State Legislatures magazine, the LegisBrief series and other topic-specific documents
NCSL also has created an audio series on how to be an effective legislator. The series covers:
