8/15/2013

NCSL Legislative Summit: Aug. 15, 2013

Overview

When it comes to presidential politics, it’s hard to name anyone with as much expertise as David Gergen. Gergen began his career advising presidents during the Nixon administration as director of speechwriting and research. He went on to become special counsel to presidents Ford and Clinton, and served as director of communications in the Reagan White House. Gergen is a familiar face on CNN, where he serves as the network’s senior political analyst. Off-camera, Gergen is a professor at the Harvard Kennedy School, where he is also director of the school’s Center for Public Leadership. After speaking at the 2013 NCSL Legislative Summit in Atlanta, Ga., Gergen sat down with NCSL to discuss his historic career and the current political landscape.
