Research and Committee Staff Section

Word cloud for RACCSWelcome to RACSS, the organization for legislative staff involved in research, policy analysis, committee staffing or constituent services. RACSS members work for legislative research or chamber offices, caucuses, committees or individual legislators.

RACSS presents programs in conjunction with NCSL’s Legislative Summit and at periodic professional development seminars. RACSS regularly sponsors webinars to enhance research skills for legislative staff and publishes a periodic newsletter to keep members informed about RACSS activities.

 

RACSS NEWSLETTER

News sign The Spring issue of the RACSS Newsletter is now available and marks the beginning of RACSS' 35th Anniversary celebration. Articles include recollections from past chairs, a short history of the staff section and announcements regarding the 2014 RACSS election and staff achievement award nominations.

 

2014 AWARDS & ELECTIONS

Elections: Nominations are due June 6 for candidates running for the RACSS Executive Committee. There is one opening for vice-chair and three openings for directors.

Awards: Nominations for the Legislative Staff Achievement Award, recognizing RACSS members for their legislative work, are due May 23.

 

THE LEGISLATURE AS A CAREER

 

An initiative from the Legislative Staff Coordinating Committee is aimed at recruiting young people into legislative service. In the video at right, Ashley Demauro, a research analyst in the Pennsylvania House, talks about her work for the Education Committee.
