Virginia CapitolMake plans to join your legislative colleagues October 13-15 for an informative and exceptional learning experience! NCSL’s Leadership Staff Section (LSS) and the Legislative Information and Communication Staff Section (LINCS) will come together in Richmond to connect, contribute and collaborate on successful strategies to help you in your legislative staff career. We will also travel to Washington, DC for an action-packed day of sessions, networking, and tours.

The LSS and LINCS Professional Development Seminar is an annual event for both  groups, designed to help attendees share solutions, discuss innovative uses of communication, increase the effectiveness of legislative staff and forge important connections with peers from around the country. The LSS and LINCS Seminar features a blend of classroom experiences, facilitated dialogue, experiential tours and all-important down-time, when staff have the opportunity to build personal and professional connections with their peers.

LSS provides a forum for state legislative employees who work for legislative leaders or party caucuses. LINCS brings together those who are responsible for public information, media relations and civic education services. This Professional Development Seminar is designed by legislative staff, for legislative staff, and it happens only once a year— don’t miss it! 
 

REGISTRATION

Registration fees are:

  • Boot Camp: $125
  • Early Bird Registration: $350—received before September 15, 2011 (staff only)
  • Legislative staff: $375 after September 16, 2011
  • Spouse/guest: $125
  • One day fee: $150
  • All others: $500

Three ways to register:

  • Register online
    Registration online requires a credit card for everyone except legislative staff. Confirmations will be sent by e-mail. Online registration will be open through October 3, 2011.
  • Fax the printable registration form to 303-364-7811.
  • Email the registration form.
  • Onsite Registration
    If you are unable to meet the October 3, 2011, registration deadline, you must register onsite at the Omni.

Spouse/Guest Registration. The $125 fee includes admission to all scheduled meal functions and evening social events. The fee must be paid in full at registration. NCSL cannot bill for spouse/guest registration fees.

Cancellations received in the NCSL Denver office by October 11, 2011 will be refunded minus a $50 processing fee. Cancellations must be made in writing and faxed to 303-364-7811, or emailed to registration@ncsl.org. Fees cannot be refunded for registrations that are cancelled after the conference begins.

Confirmations will be e-mailed if an address is provided.

Each attendee is responsible for making his or her hotel and travel arrangements.

Please make your hotel reservations directly with the Omni by phone at 804-344-7000. Mention the group code NCSL to receive the contracted room rate of $137 single or double, plus 13% tax. Reservations must be held by a one night’s room deposit (credit card guarantee is acceptable).

The deadline for making hotel reservations is September 21, 2010. After that, reservations will be accepted at the seminar rate based on room availability.

 

TRAVEL INFORMATION

Airline discounts are available through Christopherson Business Travel, NCSL’s official travel headquarters. Airline reservations
should be made at least seven days in advance. Christopherson Business Travel maintains a 24-hour toll-free line for changes and emergencies.

The Omni Richmond does not offer shuttle service from Richmond International Airport. Cabs from the airport to the Omni run around $30.00 for one person. Groome transportation has a stand at the airport and costs approximately $24 per person. You can schedule a Groome shuttle online at http://www.groometransportation.com/

Parking is also available for $21/night.
