State News & Reports

  • Minnesota. The House of Representatives Research Department issued three briefs on property tax basics.
  1. Property Tax 101: Basic Terms and Concepts
  2. Property Tax 101: Property Tax Administration
  3. Property Tax 101: Property Tax Variation by Property Type
  • Nebraska. The Legislative Fiscal Office prepared “A Legislator’s Guide to Nebraska State Agencies.” The guide is intended to provide state legislators and citizens with information on the services provided by agencies and funds appropriated.
  • Pennsylvania. The Independent Fiscal Office published a special report on a proposed sales and use tax exemption for various aircraft purchases, including parts and maintenance. The report compares Pennsylvania’s policy with other states in the region and across the U.S.
  • Virginia. The Joint Legislative Audit and Review Commission published its annual report, “Virginia Compared to the Other States: National Rankings on Taxes, Budgetary Components, and Other Indicators.”

  • The National Association of State Retirement Administrators (NASRA) published an issue brief examining trends in employee contributions to state retirement accounts and plan designs.
  • The Federation of Tax Administrators updated their state tax rate summary tables.
  • The Rockefeller Institute of Government issued a State Revenue Report. According to the report, state tax revenues are continuing to recover, but at a slow pace.
