Call to Order

The meeting of the Bylaws and Standing Orders Committee was called to order by Sandy Tenney (Utah), Committee Chair.

Other members/guests in attendance included Susan Furlong (Nev.), Ramona Kenady Line (Ore.) and Bill MaGill (Vt.).

Approval of Minutes

Upon a motion by Susan Schaar (Va.) and seconded by Susan Furlong (Nev.), the minutes of the last committee meeting held April 20, 2013, during the ASLCS Spring Meeting in Santa Fe, N.M. were approved.

Old Business

There was no old business.

New Business

Chair Tenney began the meeting by letting the committee know that the Executive Committee approved the Jane Richards Scholarship. Further information regarding this new scholarship opportunity will appear in future editions of the Legislative Administrator. Suzi Lowell (Alaska) shared with the committee that Jane Richards will match the scholarship in the first year.

In other business, Terry Spieler (Mo.) advised the committee of the need to make a technical correction to the Members section in Article 1 of the Bylaws which currently reads, “Associate members shall be non-voting members except as provided in (b) and (c) below.” Judy Barrows (Maine) made the motion to change that sentence to read as follows: “Associate members shall be non-voting members except as provided in (b) below.” The motion was seconded by Cheryl Laube (Ariz.).

Adjournment

Upon a motion by Ramona Kenady Line (Ore.) and seconded by Suzi Lowell (Alaska) the meeting was adjourned.
