A Wisconsin tourist destination for over 50 years, a self-guided tour showcases the unique design of the original house perched on a rock tower and a complex of buildings that contain eclectic, exotic and whimsical collections and displays. Dramatic garden displays that include an Asian Garden complete with cascading waterfall and a serene pond.  The Alex Jordan Center gives you a behind the scenes look at the Attraction and its creator.

Shopping on State Street (van leaves from front of the hotel)

State Street is a pedestrian mall located in downtown Madison, Wisconsin, near the Wisconsin State Capitol. The street hosts a variety of shops, bars, and restaurants and is known for its small town appeal, street musicians, jugglers and other types of busking, making it a common tourist attraction. Places of interest on State Street are the Overture Center for the Arts and the Memorial Library Mall.

University of Wisconsin Stadium Tour (van leaves from front of the hotel)

Camp Randall Stadium, built in 1917, is the home for Wisconsin's football team. The current capacity (80,321) ranks among the nation's largest school-owned stadiums. Distinguished by its impressive double-deck structure, Camp Randall Stadium has been the Badgers' facility since its opening game on Nov. 3, 1917. It has been host to UW football games, outdoor concerts, Drum Corps International, Green Bay Packer exhibition games, and other large public events.

Wisconsin Institute of Discovery (van leaves from front of the hotel)

The Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery building serves as a hub for interdisciplinary research – spanning biotechnology, nanotechnology and information technologies – that will lead to the development of new biomedical treatments and technological applications aimed at improving human health and welfare.  As a gateway to campus for the public, the building also is home to teaching labs, designed as "dream" collaborative learning environments. The labs host a wide range of education programs for K-12 and college students, science teachers and the public.

Chazen Art Museum (van leaves from front of the hotel)

The Chazen Museum of Art opened in 1970 as the Elvehjem Art Center to further the University of Wisconsin–Madison’s mission of education, research, and public service. The Chazen is home to the second-largest collection of art in Wisconsin: more than 20,000 works include paintings, sculpture, drawings, prints, photographs, and decorative arts. The permanent collection covers diverse historical periods, cultures, and geographic locations, from ancient Greece, Western Europe, and the Soviet Empire, to Moghul India, eighteenth-century Japan, and modern Africa. The collection continues to grow thanks to artwork donations and purchases.

Dinner Reception: offered at the Governor's Residence

Enjoy a visit to the Executive Residence (Governor's Mansion) for an evening of fun and food.  The mansion, built in southern Classical Revival Style, sits right on the shore of Lake Mendota.  It has served as the official residence of Wisconsin's governors since 1949.  From the grounds of the mansion you have beautiful views of the capitol and the Madison skyline.

Taliesin Preservation, Inc. was created to preserve the buildings, artifacts, landscape, and legacy of Frank Lloyd Wright in Wisconsin. America’s premier architect and Wisconsin’s native son considered Spring Green his home, and he built and created an environment both beautiful and inspirational.

There’s much to explore at Monona Terrace. From a moving tribute to a rock-and-roll legend to daily tours, there’s something for everyone. With a panoramic view that encompasses Lake Monona, the State Capitol and the near east and west sides of Madison, the Rooftop Garden is the crown jewel of Monona Terrace. In addition to exquisite trees, plants and foliage, the garden features a seasonal concession café.

Enjoy dinner and entertainment under the capitol dome.  the event will be held in the capitol rotunda on the 1st floor.  The evening will provide an opportunity to explore the capitol at your leisure and enjoy some good Wisconsin food and entertainment.

Dome Tour

The Wisconsin State Capitol is the largest buidling in Madison.  The building is 284 feet from the ground floor to the top of the  outside statue.  On this tour NLSSA members will walk to the top of capitol dome and visit its three observation decks to take in the beautiful scenery of downtown Madison.

Wisconsin Historical Museum (van leaves from front of the hotel)

The collections of the Museum contain over 110,000 historical objects and nearly 400,000 archaeological artifacts documenting the history of Wisconsin from prehistoric times to the present.

Olbrich Gardens Conservatory (van leaves from front of the hotel)

Enjoy a tropical paradise year-round in Olbrich's Bolz Conservatory, a glass pyramid filled with exotic plants, bright flowers, a rushing waterfall, fragrant orchids and free-flying birds.  The tropical Bolz Conservatory houses more than 650 plants representing more than 80 fmailies and more than 475 different species and cultivars.

NLSSA Awards Banquet at the Capitol House Restaurant

The annual NLSSA state dinner will be held at the Capitol Chophouse Restaurant.  A traditional steak house with contemporary flair, specializing in tender steaks and fresh seafood, and an extensive wine list.  The room provides picturesque views of the capitol and Lake Monona.
