Authoritative Informational Resources in an Age of Social Media: Or, Does the Truth Matter Anymore?
Accurate, complete, authoritative, and up-to-date information is vital to legislative staff in their roles as they assist lawmakers in the legislative process.  The proliferation of information available on the Internet and the lack of editorial oversight of much of that information has made it more important than ever for legislative staff to have the skills and tools needed to evaluate the authenticity of information resources.

This webinar will provide detailed information on how to evaluate information resources against recognized standards.  It will offer timely and expert advice on evaluating the quality of information.  The webinar will benefit legislative librarians, research and committee staff, drafters, fiscal analysts and personal staff in their work for state legislatures.   It is free to legislative staff and legislators.

Moderator:

  • Eddie Weeks, Legislative Librarian, Tennessee General Assembly; LRL Chair 2012-2013

Faculty:

  • Sabah Eltareb, Assistant Director, Research Bureau, California
  • Kristin Ford, Legislative Librarian, Legislative Reference Library, Legislative Services Office, Idaho
  • Tracey Kimball, Librarian, Legislative Council Service, New Mexico
