Presented by Dr. Charles Reasner, M.D.,
professor of Medicine and Endocrinology, University of Texas Health Science Center; Medical Director of the Texas Diabetes Institute

Overview

On June 10-11, 2010, NCSL hosted a Legislator in the Lab meeting at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Legislators saw presentations on disparities in outcomes from cardiovascular disease, therapeutic substitution and the obesity epidemic. In addition legislators were able to watch a catheterization procedure performed live via video training software.

During the Legislator in the Lab Meeting Dr. Charles Reasner gave a presentation covering the obesity epidemic and the impact of cardiovascular disease. Dr. Reasner has generously re-created this presentation for NCSL.
