Statewide Transparency/Spending Web Sites and Legislation

Last update: May 31, 2013

At least 35 states have passed legislation--some called Taxpayer Transparency Acts--requiring a centralized, searchable website that provides information to the public about state expenditures or state contracts. This chart provides links to the legislation and websites, including some sites that were created through executive order or actions of state agencies/officers.

For links to state stimulus sites/American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) transparency sites, see NCSL’s State Oversight of Federal Stimulus Funds.
