Justice Reinvestment Interviews
Overview
Justice Reinvestment is a data-driven approach to managing corrections resources and improving public safety. A growing number of states are having success with this approach, both in terms on saving corrections dollars and reducing recidivism.
Hear From the Experts
A number of states efforts today are supported by a Justice Reinvestment Initiative of the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) in the Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice, in coordination with the Pew Center on the States. This initiative is helping states manage growth in corrections expenditures, generate savings and increase the effectiveness of current public spending and investments to improve offender accountability and reduce crime.
Adam Gelb, director of the Public Safety Performance Project of the Pew Center on the States discusses how justice reinvestment is changing the landscape of sentencing and corrections policy.
Kristen Mahoney, director of policy for the BJA, Office of Justice Programs, Department sof Justice discusses how BJA assists states with sentencing and corrections reforms.
