The federal Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting Program will appropriate $1.5 billion over five years for states to develop a coordinated system of high quality, evidence-based early childhood home visiting programs to reduce child maltreatment, family violence, crime and/or juvenile delinquency; improve child development, school readiness or family economic self-sufficiency; and/or improve maternal or child health. This new federal investment provides states with opportunities to strengthen and expand their programs, and also presents challenges in meeting federal guidelines and allocating funds. The webinar describes the current landscape of state home visiting programs, identifies steps that states are taking right now to update their state plans and apply for funding, and highlights ways that state policymakers can get involved as their state makes important decisions about where and how to allocate home visiting resources.

The webinar highlights state examples and panelists include Jack Tweedie and Steffanie Clothier from NCSL’s Children and Families Program and Libby Doggett from the Pew Center on the States.
