Overview

Nine million U.S. children do not have health insurance, and more than twice that number do not have access to oral health services.  The shortage of dental providers certainly contributes to this problem. The Affordable Care Act requires dental coverage for children under the essential health benefits, but this will likely put more pressure on an already strained dental workforce.  Listen to a variety of policy options to ensure patients receive good dental care. Discover new state initiatives working to increase the number of dentists and create a new mid-level dental providers. Experts in children’s dental health and state legislators share their state experiences.
