Climate Change
Program Overview
Climate change has the potential to damage state economies, natural resources, and the environment. Policymakers across the nation are seeing climate change as a critical state issue. With little guidance from the federal government, states are creating innovative greenhouse gas reduction policies to reduce their contribution to climate change. These policies often inspire discussion where broadly different forecasts on climate change effects and costs are cited. NCSL provides the latest science and policy information to assist legislators in clarifying these differences. NCSL's Energy Program helps policymakers see the challenges and the opportunities presented by climate change, as legislators work to create vibrant economies and healthy environments far into the future.
