Overview

With the end of combat in Iraq and Operation Enduring Freedom, America’s troops are and will continue to return home to installations, bases and communities that will feel the stress of growth and expansion. Installations and bases will soon be operating their training mission at full capacity adding stress to land use, families and the surrounding communities. This raises issues of mission sustainability, military readiness and military family issues. This forum addressed how various levels of government are preparing to meet the needs of returning members of the military, particularly those with physical and mental injuries.
