Hydraulic Fracturing: State Policies to Ensure Safe Development of Unconventional Natural Gas
Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012
2-3 p.m. ET/ 1 p.m. CT/ Noon MT/ 11 a.m. PT
Recent technological advances in hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling have provided for a tremendous increase in natural gas development, often in regions that are not accustomed to oil and gas extraction. Although hydraulic fracturing has been employed for decades, its rapid expansion has increased concern around water quality and other environmental issues. This webinar explored the domestic natural gas picture and recent developments to ensure safe, responsible development of this critical domestic resource. Speakers discussed the outlook for future natural gas development and state legislative efforts in this area. The webinar also included a discussion of FracFocus.org, the national hydraulic fracturing chemical registry, and other efforts to protect water resources.
