The 2012 Energy Policy Summit explored new developments in energy resources and technology as well as their impacts on policymakers, consumers, and infrastructures.

Opportunity and Risk in an Evolving Energy Market

    This session discussed how utilities and states adapt energy plans to take advantage of new opportunities for economic growth and domestic resource development while increasing efficiency and managing costs.


New Energy Technologies:  The Changing Energy Landscape

  • Antonio Smyth, American Electric Power       Presentation

    This session explored how utilities are changing their approach to investment and planning given changes in the energy landscape, and the role that federal and state policies play in electricity transmission investments and planning. 

Where are We Going with the Smart Grid?

    Speakers for this session discussed how efficient management of electricity production and use through smart grid technology will change how consumers and utilities use energy and its impacts on consumers and infrastructure.

Natural Gas for the Future

    This lunch session examined the dramatic increase in the nation’s natural gas resources and its impact on the electric industry and the economy.
