• Broadband:  States are taking action to provide high-speed Internet access to underserved areas in states.  NCSL has a list of state laws, links to state broadband commissions and task forces, a recording of a webinar and other information. 
• Next Generation 911 is aimed at updating infrastructure and improving public emergency communication services.  Resources include a webinar.
• Legislatures are using social media to connect with constituents.  Legislative social networking policies are providing guidelines.
• State legislatures face critical challenges in preserving digital information and official legal materials. NCSL has resources about preserving authentic digital legislative records.
• Cyberstalking and Electronic Harassment: A majority of states have laws that explicitly include electronic forms of communication within stalking or harassment laws.  See also cyberbullying information.
• Protecting Children Online:  States are taking actions to protect children on the Internet by addressing sexting, online solicitation of children and filtering or blocking of computers in schools and libraries.
• Security Breach Laws:  A majority of states require disclosure of security breaches that involve personal information.
• Privacy: States address concerns related to the confidentiality of 911 recordings, the use of radio frequency identification technology, and other Internet privacy issues.
