Broad Drop in State Unemployment

  • Foreclosures. State lawmakers are working to help consumers who are at risk of losing their homes by addressing the foreclosure crisis in different ways.
  • Identity Theft.  Identity theft continues to plague consumers, businesses, and law enforcement. View NCSL's list of legislative actions to combat this crime.
  • Use of Credit Information in Employment. State legislators are putting in place limitations on the use of credit information by employers to make employment decisions.
  • Use of Credit Information in Insurance. State legislators and regulators are reevaluating whether insurers should be able to use a consumer's credit history or score in underwriting and pricing insurance policies.
