THE NCSL BLOG

19

NCSL travels to the Land of Lincoln – not to celebrate his birthday (that was last Wednesday), but to meet with legislators and legislative staff  from the Midwest region at the 2014 Midwest Environmental Health Policy Summit, held Thursday and Friday in – you guessed it! – Springfield, Ill.

This summit on state environmental health issues and policies is the latest in a series of summits held over the past several years in Midwestern states.  It will highlight environmental health concerns confronting Midwestern states and provide an opportunity for state legislators and staff to discuss options with national and state environmental health experts.

Co-sponsored by the University of Iowa and the American Lung Association of the Upper Midwest, session topics at this year’s summit include alternative fuels and vehicles; clean diesel’s impact on respiratory health; radon and PCBs in schools; and the impact of climate change on natural disasters.  The summit will provide an opportunity for legislators and legislative staff to meet with their colleagues from other states.

Are you a Midwestern legislator or legislative staff interested in attending?  We’d love to welcome you!  Simply RSVP to Claire Lewis at claire.lewis@ncsl.org.
