2008 NCSL Legislative Summit Round up

6,400 legislators, legislative staff, policy makers, business leaders and government relations managers came together to learn and network in New Orleans, July 22-26, 2008.

The meeting began with Fred Krupp and Marvin Odom discussing how the United States can maintain the delicate balance between energy, economic and environmental sustainability, and what the state role is.

One of the many reports NCSL released during the summit outlined changes in the Earth's climate and what the financial impact could be for states. Other reports included an update on State Budgets and immigration legislation.

An analysis of state spending on transportation was also discussed and lawmakers from across the country voted that transportation was one of the many unfunded mandates states plan to challenge the federal government.

The 2008 Summit had a great line up of speakers that you can listen or/and watch in our multimedia page >>.

Summit 2009

Is the 2009 Philadelphia Legislative Summit!

The Philadelphia attitude prevails -- cherishing individual liberty, innovation, hard work and a commitment to the next big thing. It's symbolized everywhere, even in the statue commemorating Rocky at the foot of the steps of the Philadelphia Art museum.
NCSL's 2009 Legislative Summit is the next big thing for the states -- a gathering like no other. Where Republicans and Democrats from across the country come together to work on the nation's toughest issues. Where legislative staff gather to sharpen their skills and make the institution strong.

Watch your mail box in late January for the early brochure, and be among the first to come to Philadelphia. Housing and registration will open February 1.
