This 2008 Legislative Summit--a meeting of ideas, solutions, innovations and connections--
is in New Orleans--America's European masterpiece, a city of style and taste, the birthplace of jazz, July 22 - 26.

You'll "want to be in that number" when thousands of legislators and staff gather in New Orleans at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center for the most important conference of the year.

Marvin Odum was named president of Shell Oil Company in March 2008. Before assuming his new position, he was executive vice president of the company's exploration and production Marvin Odumoperations in the western hemisphere, contributing to its leadership in addressing the nation's current and future energy needs.

Plan to arrive Tuesday, July 22, in the early afternoon and attend standing committee and staff section sessions, which are open to all attendees. The Louisiana Host Committee will welcome you at an unforgettable party Wednesday night.

Stay 'til Saturday!
After a busy week full of issue forums, committee meetings and provocative speakers, stay Friday night so you can attend the spectacular closing night event at the World War II museum and the Contemporary Arts Center. On Saturday morning you'll hear from two of the nation's premier pollsters, and then take advantage of volunteer opportunities:  join in to assist Second Harvest Food Bank of New Orleans, or brave the bayou and venture deep into the Louisiana swamps to help replant the wetlands.

Fabulous tours are available for your spouse or guest, and a children's program that includes music, cooking and the bayous--the best that Louisiana has to offer.

Be sure to attend our hot topic session, Immigrants and Economics: What's the Bottom Line?, to hear the pros and cons of foreign workers in the U.S. economy and what it means for state budgets. You'll hear from leading economists and researchers, and find out what actions states have taken related to immigrants..
