Core Programs
The Center for Ethics in Government was organized in 1999 to address this most critical, fundamental and far-reaching problem facing government in America: the loss of public trust and confidence in representative democracy. The Center is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization located at the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) in Denver, Colorado, and funded by NCSL's Foundation for State Legislatures. The mission of the Center is to be a leader in restoring confidence in representative government by promoting ethical behavior for state legislators, staff, lobbyists and advocates.
The Women's Legislative Network membership includes all women legislators by virtue of their election to office. It evolved from a loosely knit organization of women legislators in 1985 into a highly respected organization of women legislators from across the nation. Today the Women's Legislative Network of NCSL sponsors forums and workshops on topics of interest to women legislators, hosts events for women legislators at NCSL meetings, partners with private industry and other national women's organizations to provide needed resources and services, and serves as a network for women legislators, Alliance members, partnering organizations and other friends and supporters. The mission of the Women's Legislative Network is to promote the participation, empowerment, and leadership of women legislators.
