National Association of Legislative Information Technology (NALIT)

2007 Professional
Development Seminar

Springfield, Illinois
September 26-29, 2007

Program Overview

The NALIT Professional Development Seminar is the only seminar designed exclusively for legislative information technology staff and managers.  Version 2.0 of the NALIT Professional Development Seminar in Illinois is in the works. It is set for delivery September 26-29, 2007, in Springfield and represents a whole new experience over Version 1, released in 2001.

This premier event for legislative information technology staff provides a combination of educational sessions, demonstrations and exhibits, and networking opportunities.  This year's seminar will offer general sessions and three tracks focusing on issues important to technical specialists, IT managers and others interested in policy and management issues related to legislative information technology. Participants are welcome to attend the sessions that interest them in any track. Speakers for the seminar combine the knowledge of industry experts and the experience and expertise of legislative information technology staff.

The seminar will be based in the revitalized downtown area at the recently renovated Hilton Springfield, and will feature a day at the newly restored Capitol, with demonstrations of the new voting systems as well as all the legislative applications that were still in development back in 2001.

The focus is on interacting with peers, learning from them and offering successes and failures to the community, so there will be plenty of discussions and demonstrations to make that possible.  Please join us for a unique learning experience where you'll recharge, gain new insights and inspiration, and meet and reconnect with colleagues from other states.

Social Events and Area Attractions

The NALIT Seminar provides many opportunities for attendees to discuss legislative IT issues with their peers, including in the relaxed atmosphere of social events.  This year, the NALIT seminar will include great after-hours events--an opening social event, an exhibitors reception, and the capstone event on Saturday evening at the world-class Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, which opened in 2005.  The Museum's interactive, state-of-the art technology brings Lincoln and his legacy brilliantly to life.

A bonus is available for attendees interested in classic cars and America's historic Route 66: the International Route 66 Mother Road Festival, since this free annual event is being held in downtown Springfield on September 28-30.  A special program is also planned for guests, who will have the chance to experience the many sights and attractions available in Springfield.

To plan your trip to Springfield, visit Downtown Springfield, Inc. and the Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau
