If you are not subscribed to the LRL NCSL electronic discussion forum, you should be!  It’s a great venue for helping your fellow legislative librarians and getting the help you need. Keep in touch with what your library counterparts in other states are doing by joining our listserv. A listserv is simply an email discussion group.

First, you subscribe to the LRL e-mail list. Then, every e-mail you or any other subscriber sends to the list's address is automatically distributed to all subscribers. So, if you post a question, it will automatically be sent to every subscriber, and each subscriber's response will automatically be sent to every subscriber.

How Do I Subscribe?

Send an e-mail to Janna Goodwin. In the message, identify yourself and describe your office or other state legislative affiliation. Please include your voice phone number and mailing address.

That's all it takes. You will receive a welcome message that provides instructions on how to send e-mail to the list. It's a good idea to save those instructions. We look forward to meeting you in our e-mail listserv.

Posting Messages

To post a message to the LRL Listserv, send an e-mail message to LRL-L@NCSL.ORG with your questions or comments (describe the message briefly in the subject field). Please include your name and contact information at the bottom of every message so others can contact you individually if they choose. Your message will be sent to all subscribers on the list.

Remember that replies to messages posted on the LRL listserv will also be sent (reflected) to all other subscribers. To reply privately to the person who posted a message, send a new message to the sender's e-mail address rather than replying to the listserv message at LRL-L@NCSL.ORG .

To Unsubscribe

To be taken off the LRL listserv, send an email message to Janna Goodwin and in the body of the message put: unsubscribe.

After logging on you will see a page of your lists and can review the messages.

You can use the search feature to find a specific message.

For example, you can just put in ‘LaFleur’ to get all of Robbie LaFleur's messages and browse for your favorite message so far this year.

All of Robbie's posts are displayed:

You can also search by subject:
