California
Proposition 98
Prohibits the taking or damaging of private property for private use; prohibits rent control; and requires state and local governments to offer to sell back property taken through eminent domain to the original owner if the property is put to a substantially different use than originally stated. (Failed, 39.1%)
Proposition 99
Prohibits the use of eminent domain to acquire an owner-occupied residence to convey it to a private entity. (Passed, 62.4%)
