State Legislatures Must Be Included in Education Reform
WASHINGTON – State legislatures sent a message to the Department of Education today regarding education reform: Don't make the same mistake as the previous administration. In comments submitted to the Department by Representative Larry M. Bell, House Education Chair in North Carolina and also chair of NCSL's Standing Committee on Education, NCSL urged Secretary Duncan to include state legislatures as key stakeholders for education reform. Additionally, the letter urges the department to consider states' ingenuity in education policy and not set cookie-cutter approaches that must be implemented across all states. More
